Patricia Cardona - Flute / Piccolo

Patricia Cardona - Sonare Artist
Patricia was born in California but grew up in New York, Hawaii and Oregon as her father was in the Navy. Currently she is a sohpomore at the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance pursuing a Music Performance degree under the instruction of Molly Barth.  Patricia has been the principal flute in the Oregon Wind Ensemble, a member of the University Symphony Orchestra and the Oregon Marching Band, as well as a Gamelan Ensemble.  She debuted with the Salem Chamber Orchestra, the Salem Youth Symphony in 2008 and Salem POPs in 2009.  In the Summer of 2009 she performed at the Glenn Miller Festival in Clarinda, Iowa and then volunteered as a musician for the Eugene, Shakespeare in the Park series for the monthe of August. Sonare Winds, a division of Vern Q. Powell Flutes, named her an Artist in 2008 (www.sonarewinds.com).  Also in 2008; she received the National 2008 Arts in Action, Live on Stage scholarship, received the John Phillip Sousa Award, was the MTNA NW Division Senior Woodwind National Alternate, and was a national finalist for JFK Center/National Symphony Orchestra National Trustees' Summer Music Institute.

She placed first and second at OSAA State Solo/Ensemble, was three-time OMEA District 4 Champion, and has been principal flute/piccolo for Salem Youth Symphony, City, State, Oahu, and NW honor bands. Patricia has also performed in master classes and/or had private lessons with Michel Debost, Jill Felber, Walfrid Kujala, Lorna McGhee, Mary Karen Clardy, Jim Walker, Brad Garner and others. She is the former student of Sandy Duffy-Norman of RoseWynde Flute and Harp Duo, as well as Sabrina Saiki-Mita at Punahou Conservatory and University of Hawaii.

Patricia regularly performs throughout her community for fundraisers, weddings and other events and is available by appointment to conduct clinics for Sonare Winds (www.sonarewinds.com).
